Establishment of the World Society of Person-Centered Medicine (WSPCM)
The World Society of Person-Centered Medicine (WSPCM) has been officially established. The
WSPCM is an international organization dedicated to promoting the transition of health systems, medical
education, and research toward the Person-Centered Medicine paradigm and to supporting recognition of
the World Health Charter.
“The purpose of the WSPCM is to take decisive action at the European and international level for the transition of health systems to person-centered medicine.” “In the person-centered clinical method the ‘Who is’
the person before the doctor comes before the ‘What does he/she have’.”
Mission and Values
Mission: To align global health systems, medical education, and research with the epistemological revolution grounded in interactionism and the teleonomy of human nature, placing the person at the center of care
and promoting choices and lifestyles that foster human flourishing across the dimensions of spirit, mind, and
body.
Core values: person centrality; dialogical and relational clinical method; rigorous education; interdisciplinary research; ethical transparency and responsibility.

Medical Education and the Paradigm Shift
The paradigm shift in medical science, founded on the epistemological pillars of interactionism and the teleonomy of human nature, is realized through training in the Person-Centered Clinical Method (PCCM),
theorized by Prof. Giuseppe R. Brera and taught at the Milan Medical School of the Ambrosiana University
since 1998. This method introduces the “Diacrisi,” culminating in the Diagnosis of the Person. Research
indicates that the PCCM leads to substantial reductions in suffering and healthcare costs. The WSPCM considers it essential to update medical faculty and physicians worldwide to integrate this paradigm into curricula and clinical practice. At present, there is a single teaching program in Person-Centered Medicine that
follows the quality procedures of the Milan Medical School of the Ambrosiana University.
Activities and Operational Objectives
Education: Promote teaching and dissemination of the PCCM through master’s programs, courses,
and academic initiatives.
Research: Support interdisciplinary studies on person-centered outcomes, mind-body interactions,
gene expression, and allostatic processes.
Scientific events: Organize international congresses, workshops, and seminars to foster dialogue
among clinicians, researchers, and policy makers.
Advocacy: Engage with national and international institutions to integrate Person-Centered Medicine principles into health policy and to promote the World Health Charter.
Membership Categories and Requirements
Categories: Individual Members; Institutional Members; Permanent Honorary Members; Affiliated Members. Voting rights: Granted to members (excluding affiliated members) who meet competence requirements. Individual membership requirements: Attainment of the Diploma in Person-Centered Medicine
awarded by the Ambrosiana University of Milan and attendance of the International Master’s Program in
Person-Centered Medicine; maintenance of membership requires at least one scientific or theoretical publication every two years in the open-ac cess official organ of WSPCM journals , Person-Centered Medicine
International Journal . Founding individuals and institutions are recognized as Permanent Honorary
Members. Affiliated membership is available upon request and subject to payment of a membership fee.
